William Gould was born on 16 September 1755, the son of Thomas Gould 1714-1794 and his wife née Elizabeth Cocks 1735-1818.
He married Anne Richardson, the daughter of Francis Richardson of Milwich in Staffordshire. She was born in 1776 and died on 4 June 1819 aged 43 years.
Their children were:
Thomas Gould 1800-1878. He was born in 1800 at Hanson Grange in Thorpe parish in Derbyshire, and succeeded his father there. He died unmarried on 24 August 1878 aged 77 years, and was buried at Thorpe, where there is a memorial gravestone.
Francis Gould 1804-1877. He was born in 1804 at Hanson Grange. He married Hannah Needham Champion 1804-1840 on 8 March 1831, and they had a daughter Frances Gould 1832-1913 known in the family as Fanny. Hannah Needham Gould died in 1840. In 1848 her widower Francis Gould married Susannah Briggs 1814-1892 at Derby. He died in 1877 at Clifton near Bristol, and was buried at Thorpe, where there is a memorial gravestone to himself and his wife Susannah Gould.
Elizabeth Gould 1802-1843. She was married to William Wright 1796-1882 of Bradbourne in 1823. Their daughter Mary Wright 1827-1897 married her third cousin Nathaniel Gould 1824-1874 of Manchester, and their son was Nat Gould.
Anne Gould 1806-1885. She was born on 19 December 1806 at Hanson Grange. After her father died in 1845 and her brother Thomas Gould took over the farm, she continued to live there until he died in 1878. Then she moved, with her sister Catherine and their niece and companion Eliza Wright 1840-1936 (the daughter of her sister Elizabeth Wright to a house in Church Street, Ashbourne that they named Hanson Mount. Anne Gould died in 1885 and was buried at Thorpe, where there is a memorial gravestone. She was unmarried.
William Gould. He was born on 26 January 1808 and baptised at Thorpe. He died at Manchester on 2 July 1848 (1).
Catherine Gould 1809-1910. She was born on 21 December 1809 at Hanson Grange, and was unmarried. She lived at Hanson Grange until her brother Thomas Gould died in 1878. She then moved, with her sister Anne Gould and their niece and companion Eliza Wright 1840-1936 to Hanson Mount in Ashbourne. She died in 1910 and was buried at Thorpe, where there is a memorial gravestone.
Their father William Gould died at Hanson Grange on Monday morning 2 June 1845 (2).
He had been named as a trustee in the Will of his cousin John Wilson 1755-1835 of Stenson in Derbyshire dated 27 February 1832, but was replaced by his son Thomas Gould 1800-1878 in a codicil added on 3 February 1834. The Will was proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury on 3 June 1836.

Similar notices appeared in the Sheffield Independent 7 June 1845 and the Stamford Mercury 13 June 1845.
