Thomas Gould was born in 1695 at Pilsbury Grange in Hartington parish in Derbyshire, the son and fifth child of William Gould 1655-1725 and his wife née Mary Hollis 1654-1713. He was baptised on 28 March 1695 at Hartington.
He married Anne Bagnall of Newton Grange on 21 October 1716 at Hartington. She was born in 1681, died on 29 June 1777 aged 96 years, and was buried at Hartington on 6 July 1777. She was probably the daughter of John Bagnall of Newton Grange, who was buried at Hartington on 30 June 1728, and his wife Jane, who was buried at Hartington on 7 December 1759.
They lived at Cronkston Grange in Hartington parish, Derbyshire.
However he owned coal pits at Horwich, now part of Whaley Bridge in Derbyshire, that he bequeathed to his sons William Gould, Thomas Gould and John Gould in his Will.
They had the following children:
Thomas Gould 1717-1764
Isaac Gould 1719-
John Gould 1725-1762
William Gould 1730-1755
Hannah Gould
Mary Gould 1719-1775. She was married to George Griffin of Wirksworth. She died on 2 January 1775 aged 56 years, and was buried at Hartington on 6 January in that year. George Griffin was buried at Hartington on 20 November 1771.
Thomas Gould 1695-1763 died on 5 March 1763, and was buried at Hartington on 8 March 1763 where there is a gravestone inscribed to his memory and that of his wife.
His widow Anne Gould née Bagnall died on 29 June 1777 aged 96 years, and was buried at Hartington.
After her death the tenancy of Cronkston Grange passed out of the Gould family.
