Nat Gould

Thomas Gould 1717-1764

Thomas Gould was born in 1717, the son of Thomas Gould 1695-1763 and his wife nee Ann Bagnall.

He was a farmer and lived at Dowall near Crowdecote in the parish of Hartington in Derbyshire.

On 26 June 1846 he married Elizabeth Melland of nearby High Needham, the elder daughter of William Melland and his wife nee Ann Fletcher of nearby Wheeldon Trees, who had married on 4 Octber 1722 at Hartington. They also had a daughter Maria Melland baptised on 23 September 1723, a son Ralph Melland born in 1728 and who was baptised on 1 January 1729, and another son Thomas Melland baptised on 26 January 1730, all at Hartington.

Thomas Gould and his wife Elizabeth Gould nee Melland had a son Richard Gould 1747-1822, and a daughter Anne Gould who was born in 1750.

Thomas Gould died in 1764 aged 47, and was buried on 11 November 1764 at Hartington in Derbyshire.
His wife died in 1812 and was buried at Hartington on 3 May in that year, aged 95 years.
