William Horobin was born in 1808 at Sheen in Staffordshire, the son of John Horobin 1779-1845 and his wife née Elizabeth Wilkinson 1785-1865.

On 4 September 1837 he married Kezia Bagshaw at Bakewell in Derbyshire. She was born in 1819 at Chelmorton in Derbyshire, the daughter of William and Esther Bagshaw, and was baptised there on 20 June 1819. Her father was a carpenter. They lived at Pictor Lodge in Chelmorton parish.

They had the following children:

John Horobin. He was born in 1838 at Chelmorton, and baptised there on 14 October 1838.

Hannah Horobin. She was born in 1841 at Chelmorton.

Ann Elizabeth Horobin. She was born in 1847 at Chelmorton, and died in 1921. She was twice married: first to Thomas Needham in 1862 who died in 1871; and secondly in 1874 to Charles Grant.

William Horobin. He was born in August 1852 and baptised at Chelmorton on 24 August 1852. He died in the same year aged three weeks, and was buried at Earl Sterndale on 5 September 1852

Kezia Horobin nee Bagshaw died on 24 August 1852 aged 33 years at Fairfield near Buxton in Derbyshire, and was buried at Earl Sterndale on 27 August 1852.

On 23 November 1857 he married Mary Wild. She was born in 1824 at Fairfield, the daughter of Edward Wild.

By 1881 he had become the landlord of the Royal Oak Inn at Sparklow in Hartington Middle Quarter parish in Derbyshire.

They had the following children:

Sarah Ann Horobin. She was born on 25 November 1860 at Fairfield near Buxton in Derbyshire. On 31 May 1883 she was married to Samuel Hallows, and died on 8 July 1939 at Wirksworth in Derbyshire aged 78 years.

William Horobin. He was born on 6 July 1862 at Fairfield. He married his second cousin once removed Ellen Smith (born in 1870 the daughter of William Smith 1833-1908).

Hannah Martha Horobin. She was born on 19 December 1864 at Fairfield. She died in 1903 aged 38 years and was buried at Earl Sterndale on 22 August 1903.

Their father William Horobin died on 12 January 1888 at the Royal Oak Inn at Sparklow aged 79 years, and was buried at Earl Sterndale on 15 January 1888.

His widow Mary Horobin née Wild died at Sparklow in 1903 aged 79 years, and was buried at Earl Sterndale on 11 November 1903.
