Ann Elizabeth Horobin 1847-1921

Ann Elizabeth Horobin was born in 1847 at Chelmorton in Derbyshire, the daughter of William Horobin 1808-1888 and his first wife née Kezia Bagshaw 1819-1852.

In 1851 she was at home with her mother at Taddington in Derbyshire. She was married to Thomas Henry Needham in 1862.
He was born in 1832 at Bakewell in Derbyshire, and baptised there on 1 April in that year.

They had the following children, all born in Buxton, Derbyshire:

Sarah Needham. She was born in 1862.

John William Needham. He was born in 1864. He died in 1878 aged fourteen years in Sheffield (1).

John Thomas Needham. He was born in 1867.

Their father Thomas Needham died in 1871.

In 1874 Ann Elizabeth Needham née Horobin was married to Charles Grant, born in Bakewell in 1845.

When the Census was take in 1881 they were living at 74 Lansdown Road in Sheffield. Charles Grant was then employed as a groom.In 1891 they were living at 1 Brunswick Street in Manchester. Charles Grant was by then a tram guard.

When the Census was taken in 1901 they were living in lodgings at 126 South Street, Longsight in Manchester. Charles Grant was then recorded as being a groom in a livery stables. By 1911 they were at 21 Church Street, Droylsden near Ashton-under-Lyne in Lancashire, and Charles Grant was a coachman.

They had the following children:

Charles Grant. He was born in 1875 in Manchester.

Ann Elizabeth Grant. She was born in 1877 at Buxton.

Ellen Grant. She was born in 1879 in Sheffield.

Sarah Grant. She was born in 1881 in Sheffield.

Hannah Grant. She was born in 1886 in Sheffield.

Their mother Ann Elizabeth Grant formerly Needham née Horobin died in 1921 at Ashton-under-Lyne aged 75 years.

Her husband Charles Grant predeceased her. He died in 1915 at Ashton-under-Lyne aged 70 years.

(1) This John William Needham is not to be confused with John William Needham of about the same age who was the son of Alfred Needham 1847-1908 and his wife née Mary Harrison 1842-1913.
