Thomas Edward Wooddisse was born in 1839 at Alstonefield in Staffordshire, the son of Ralph Wooddisse 1807-1850 and his wife née Elizabeth Beardmore 1811-1890, and was baptised there on 27 February 1839.
On 6 July 1876 he married Bessy Wint at Wetton in Staffordshire. She was born on 24 July 1843 at Wetton.
They had the following children:
Herbert Edmund Wooddisse. He was born on 10 May 1877, and was baptised at Alstonefield on 6 July 1877. He married Ada Massey 1878-1960 of Nottingham. Their daughter Bessie Wooddisse (born in 1911) was married on 7 June 1933 to Ernest John Arme at Alstonefield. He was born in 1908, the son of Ernest Samuel Arme. Herbert Edmund Wooddisse died on 26 February 1942 at West Side in Alstonefield parish.
His mother Bessy Wooddisse née Wint died in 1889.
On 18 April 1892 Thomas Edward Wooddisse married Edith Rose Taylor at Alstonefield. She was born on 5 April 1870, the daughter of William Taylor of Sharplow in Tissington parish, Derbyshire.
They had the following children:
Mary Elizabeth Wooddisse. She was born in 1892, and was baptised at Alstonefield on 15 January 1893. She was known in the family as Bessie. She was married on 11 September 1916 at Alstonefield to George Herbert Critchlow of Parwich in Derbyshire, the son of Thomas Gilman Critchlow. She died on 2 June 1921 at Alstonefield.
Thomas Edward Wooddisse. He was born in 1895, and died on 29 May 1918. In 1911 he was an outdoor apprentice joiner. He served in the First World War.
John Burnett Wooddisse. He was born in 1896, and was baptised at Alstonefield on 6 September 1896. In 1911 aged fourteen he was working as a farm servant. He died on 2 May 1931 in a road accident at Hartington in Derbyshire aged 34 years. He was buried at Alstonefield, where there is a gravestone inscribed to his memory.
Ralph Wooddisse. He was born in 1897, and was baptised at Alstonefield on 13 January 1898.
William Wooddisse. He was born in 1897, and was baptised at Alstonefield on 13 January 1898.
Alice Wooddisse. She was born in 1900, and was baptised at Alstonefield on 10 June 1900. She was married on 1 October 1927 to Roland Marshall at Alstonefield. He was born in 1901, the son of William Marshall.
Margaret Wooddisse, She was born in 1902, and was baptised at Alstonefield on 31 August 1902.

When the Census was taken in 1911 the family were living at Hope Cottage in Alstonefield. Their father Thomas Edward Wooddisse was recorded a an Estate Joiner, presumably on the estate of the Harpur-Crewe family who owned the village. Later they lived at The Hollow in Alstonefield.
Their father Thomas Edward Wooddisse died in 1912 at Alstonefield.
His wife Edith Rose Wooddisse née Taylor died on 30 July 1929 aged 59 years, and was buried at Alstonefield, where there is a monumental inscription to her memory.
