Edward Wooddisse was born in 1850 at Alstonefield in Staffordshire, the son of Ralph Wooddisse 1807-1850 and his wife née Elizabeth Beardmore 1811-1890, and was baptised there on 6 October 1850.
When the Census was taken in 1871 he was unmarried and living with his mother. By 1881 he was farming 268 acres at Minninglow in Derbyshire, employing two men and a boy. He was unmarried and his widowed mother was there with him.
On 11 January 1897 he married Annie Elizabeth Ellis at Alstonefield. She was born in 1858 at Parwich in Derbyshire, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Ellis.

In 1901 he was farming at The Sycamore in Alstonefield, and they were still there in 1911.
They had no children.
Edward Wooddisse died on 30 October 1926 at The Homestead in Alstonefield, and was buried at Alstonefield where there is a monumental inscription to his memory and that of his wife.
His Will was proved on 31 December 1926 (1).
His wife Annie Elizabeth Wooddisse née Ellis had predeceased him on 15 March 1926 at Alstonefield, and was also buried at Alstonefield.
Her Will was proved on 31 December 1926 (2).
