James Sheldon 1880-1948

James Sheldon was born in 1880 at New Mills in Derbyshire, the son of Samuel Sheldon 1845-1882 and his wife nee Ann Middleton.

In 1891 aged eleven he was working as a bobbin maker, and in 1901 he was a railway porter.

In 1905 he married Lucy Price at Stockport in Cheshire. She was born in 1886 at Stockport, the daughter of Peter and Ellen Price of Stockport.

In 1911 James and Lucy Sheldon were living at 29 Hanover Street in Stockport. He was then a cotton spinner.

They had the following children, both born in Stockport:

Frank Sheldon. He was born in 1907.

Ellen Sheldon. She was born in 1910.

There was also one other child, living in 1911.

James Sheldon died in Manchester in 1948 aged 69 years.

His wife Lucy Sheldon died in Manchester in 1962 aged 77 years.
