In 1928 he married Maggie Thurling at Providence Chapel, New Mills in Derbyshire.
She was born on 11 March 1904 at Hazel Grove, Stockport in Cheshire, the daughter of George Thurling (born in 1878 at Wymondham in Norfolk) and his wife Annie (born in Hazel Grove in 1877). They lived at 5 Marshalls Yard in Hazel Grove. Maggie (2) was baptised at Norbury church near Hazel Graove on 11 December 1906.
Samuel Sheldon died in Manchester in 1941.
