John William Sheldon was born in 1870 at Tideswell in Derbyshire, the son of Samuel Sheldon 1845-1882 and his wife nee Ann Middleton.
In 1897 He married Mary Harriet Yarwood Staley at Providence Chapel, New Mills in Derbyshire. They lived at 12 Church View in New Mills.
They had the following children, all born in New Mills:

James Sheldon. He was born in 1900.
May Sheldon. She was born in 1902.
Annie Sheldon. She was born in 1907.
Samuel Sheldon. He was born in 1908.
Edith Sheldon. She was born in 1909.

John Sheldon. He was born in 1911.
John William Sheldon died in 1954 at Hayfield in Derbyshire aged 84 years.
