Benjamin Horobin was born on 8 December 1773, the son of William Horobin 1749-1825 and his wife née Ann Mellor, and was baptised on 2 January 1774 at Sheen.

On 7 October 1799 he married Hannah Doughty 1773-1821 at Earl Sterndale (1).

They had the following children:

Elizabeth Horobin. She was born in 1800 at Crowdecote in Derbyshire, and baptised on 22 June 1800 at Longnor. When the Census was taken in 1851 she was housekeeper for widower John Mitchel, farming at Flagg in Derbyshire. She died unmarried on 28 February 1858 at Flagg aged 57 years, and was buried on 4 March 1858 at Sheen. Her Will was proved on 16 June 1858 (2).

John Horobin. He was born in 1803. He was twice married, first to Hannah Wood, and secondly to Mary Sutton by whom he had eleven children. John Horobin died on 31 July 1877 at Ferny Knowl in Sheen in Staffordshire.

Ann Horobin. She was born in 1806 and baptised on 12 January 1806 at Longnor in Staffordshire. On 31 December 1838 she was married to Philip Johnson 1807-1877 at Sheen. They emigrated to Tasmania in the early 1840s. Ann Johnson nee Horobin died on 19 February 1890 at Bagdad, Tasmania.

Hannah Horobin. She was born in 1815 at Sheen, and baptised there on 2 July 1815. She died in 1841 at Sheen aged 26 years, and was buried there on 21 April 1841.

Their father Benjamin Horobin died on 6 April 1849 at Ferny Knowl in Sheen parish, and was buried on 9 April 1849 at Sheen.

His wife Hannah Horobin née Doughty had predeceased him in 1821.

(1) In his father's Will he was bequeathed "the Estate at the back of Sheen Hill" but he was to pay out of that estate £6 per annum to his sister Elizabeth Goodwin for life and £100 to his brother John Horobin. He was also to share with his brothers Thomas Horobin, John Horobin and Daniel Horobin the residue of their father's cash, bills and book debts and the residue of his farming stock, implements of husbandry, and household furniture, all to be equally divided between them. He also bequeathed to Benjamin Horobin seven acres at Sheen Hill.
(2) The Will "of Elizabeth Horobin late of Flagg in the Parish of Bakewell in the County of Derby Spinster deceased who died 28 February 1858 at Flagg aforesaid was proved at Derby by the oath of Matthew Nall of Flagg aforesaid Farmer one of the Executors.
