John Horobin was born in 1803 at Longnor in Staffordshire, the son of Benjamin Horobin 1773-1849 and his wife née Hannah Doughty 1773-1821.

On 7 May 1829 John Horobin married Hannah Wood at Sheen in Staffordshire.

On 3 November 1833 he married Mary Sutton at Sheen by licence. She was born in 1807 at Hartington in Derbyshire. They had the following children:

Benjamin Horobin. He was born in 1833 and baptised at Sheen on 29 August 1835. He died in 1852.

Daniel Horobin. He was born in 1835 and baptised at Sheen on 29 August 1835. He died in 1849 and was buried on 30 April 1849 at Sheen.

Thomas Horobin. He was born in 1837 and baptised at Sheen on 9 August 1837. He died in 1856.

Henry Horobin. He was born in 1839 and baptised at Sheen on 10 June 1839. He died in 1849 and was buried on 9 April 1849 at Sheen.

Martha Horobin. She was born in 1841 and baptised at Sheen on 18 January 1841.

John Horobin. He was born in 1842 and baptised at Sheen on 24 October 1842. He took over the family farm at Ferny Knowl in Sheen, where he died on 25 April 1906. His Will was proved on 8 September 1906 (1).

Mary Ann Horobin. She was born in 1844 and baptised at Sheen on 3 July 1844.

Hannah Horobin. She was born in 1846.

William Horobin. He was born in 1847 and baptised at Sheen on 12 January 1848. He died in 1849.

Fanny Horobin. She was born in 1850 and baptised at Sheen on 21 December 1850. She died in 1851 aged seven months, and was buried on 21 August 1851 at Sheen.

Alfred Horobin. He was born in 1852. When the Census was taken in 1881 he was with his widowed mother and brother John Horobin farming at Ferny Knowl, together with Joseph William Moss aged 8 grandson of his mother. He died on 27 June 1884 at Ferny Knowl aged 32 years. His Will was proved on 10 September 1884 (2).

Their father John Horobin died on 31 July 1877 at Ferny Knowl aged 74 years. His Will was proved on 4 September 1877 (3).

His widow Mary Horobin née Sutton died on 22 October 1889 at Ferny Knowl. Administration of her personal estate was granted to her son John Horobin (4).
