Edwin Adams was born in 1850 at Alstonefield in Staffordshire, the son of William Adams 1813-1898 and his wife nee Hannah Wood. He was baptised at Alstonefield on 31 March 1850.
In 1871 aged 21 he working on the hundred acre farm of John Mellor of Alstonefield.
He married Sarah Downes on 8 October 1873 at Ashbourne in Derbyshire. She was born in 1855 in Alstonefield.
They had a son, George William Adams 1874-1960 born at Alstonefield.
In 1881 he and his wife and son were living at Midgely Gates, Wincle near Macclesfield in Cheshire. He was then employed as a mason's labourer.
When the 1901 Census was taken they were living at Jumper Lane Farm in Rainow, Cheshire. Edwin Adams was by then a farmer on his own account.
By 1911 he was recorded as being a builder and farmer. He also owned a quarry at nearby Kerridge.
He died in 1917 aged 66 years, and was buried on 6 September 1917. The service was held at the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in Rainow.
