John William Phillips 1867-1926

John William Phillips was born on 1 July 1867 in Warslow in Staffordshire, the son of Alfred Phillips 1832-1922 and his wife née Anne Trueman 1838-1905 of Hall Cliffe in Warslow, and was baptised on 29 September 1867 at Warslow.

In 1890 he married Edith Berrisford 1871-1933. When the Census was taken in 1891 they were living at Cowlow Lane in Warslow, and John William Phillips was an agricultural labourer. In 1901 they were living at Waste Barn, Barlaston in Staffordshire, and by 1911 at Lodge Field, Tittensor near Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire.

They had the following children:

John Phillips. He was born in 1890 in Warslow.

May Truman Phillips. She was born on 28 March 1892 in Tittensor. In 1911 she was working as a housemaid in the boarding house of Misses Ellen and Annie Holdgate at 12 Terrace Road in Buxton, Derbyshire. In 1920 she was married to Ralph Bernard Gilbert 1901-1966, and died in 1977 aged 85 years.

Edgar Phillips. He was born in 1894 in Tittensor. In 1911 he was working as a farm labourer for Joseph Bassett of Tittensor.

Bernard Phillips. He was born in 1898 in Meaford near Stone, Staffordshire. In 1911 he was working as a domestic servant in the household of Leonard John Bassett, a hay merchant manager of Ivy House in Tittensor.

Annie Phillips. She was born in 1900 in Tittensor.

Leonard Phillips 1901-1977. He was born in 1901 in Meaford. He married Madeline Primrose Preston 1904-1980.

Doris Phillips. She was born in 1904 in Tittensor.

Arthur Phillips. He was born in 1907 in Tittensor.

Colin Francis Phillips. He was born in 1910 in Tittensor.

Their father John William Phillips died on 21 September 1926.
