Ralph Trueman Phillips 1874-1942

Ralph Trueman Phillips was born in 1874 at Warslow in Staffordshire, the son of Alfred Phillips 1832-1922 and his wife née Anne Trueman 1838-1905 of Hall Cliffe in Warslow, and was baptised in 1874 at Warslow. His father was a stationary engine driver.

When the Census was taken in 1901 he was working as a stockman on the farm of Richard Clews at Strongford Mill, Trentham in Staffordshire.

In 1911 he was an estate worker living with his wife and family at Stanton-in-the-Peak, near Bakewell in Derbyshire.

He had married Sarah Jane Billingham in 1904. She was born on 30 November 1879 at Stanton-in-the-Peak, the daughter of John Billingham 1850-1881 and his wife née Mary Housley (born in 1852).

They had the following children, all born at Stanton-in-the-Peak:

Walter Henry Phillips. He was born in 1905. In 1932 he married Violet Adams Bainbridge 1908-1996 (1), the daughter of Lily Matilda Bainbridge 1800-1920, and the granddaughter of Thomas Bainbridge 1830-1911 of Ryder Point near Middleton-by-Wirksworth in Derbyshire and his wife nee Emma Wagstaff 1841-1903. Walter Henry Phillips died in 1972 aged 67 years.
Violet Adams Bainbridge 1908-1996 was the sister of Lily Matilda Bainbridge 1907-1996, who became the wife of his first cousin Walter Henry Phillips 1892-1979.

Ralph Trueman Phillips. He was born in 1906 and died in the same year.

John James Phillips. He was born on 13 February 1909, and died on 24 February 1921.

Frederick Clarence Phillips. He was born in 1910. He married Veronica M Ward in 1939, and died in 1993.

Ann E Phillips. She was born in 1913, and was married to Wilfred Fidler at Chesterfield in 1937.

Their mother Sarah Jane Phillips née Billingham died on 16 December 1918 at Stanton-in-the-Peak.

Their father Ralph Trueman Phillips died on 25 July 1942 also at Stanton-in-the-Peak.
