John Grindon was the son of William Grindon and his wife née Ann Gould. They lived at Ashholme in Warslow in the parish of Alstonefield, Staffordshire.
John Grindon married Ann (maiden surname unknown), and they had the following children:
Elizabeth Grindon. She was baptised at Alstonefield on 28 August 1713, but had died by 1716 when another child of that name was baptised.
Mary Grindon. She was baptised at Alstonefield on 20 February 1714/15. She died in the same year and was buried at Alstonefield on 21 May 1715.
Ann Grindon. She was baptised at Alstonefield on 20 November 1715, and was married there on 15 January 1536 to Thomas Salt.
Elizabeth Grindon. She was baptised at Alstonefield on 22 April 1716, and was unmarried when her father died in 1746.
Mary Grindon. She was baptised at Alstonefield on 21 September 1718, and died unmarried in 1784. She was buried at Alstonefield on 5 November 1784.
