Nat Gould

Jane Webster 1805-1878

Jane Webster was born on 21 May 1805 at Bradbourne in Derbyshire, the daughter of Joseph Webster and his wife Elizabeth (maiden surname unknown). She was baptised at Bradbourne on 13 October 1805.

She was married to Samuel Berisford 1798-1884 at Bradbourne on 4 September 1826. He was born in 1798 at Stydd near Ashbourne in Derbyshire, and farmed 120 acres at Ballidon Moor Farm near Bradbourne. By 1871 however he was farming at Haywood Farm in Mapleton, Derbyshire.

They had the following children:

Samuel Berisford. He was born in 1827 at Ballidon, and married Thomasin Greensmith 1823-1853 in 1849. She was born at Thorpe in Derbyshire on 2 August 1823, the daughter of Thomas Greensmith 1785-1876 and his wife nee Thomasin Goodwin Gould 1787-1853. He was a prosperous merchant and grocer trading at Macclesfield in Cheshire. He died at Buxton in 1903 aged 76 years.

William Berisford. He was born in 1829. He was recorded as working with his brother Samuel Berisford in the grocery firm in Macclesfield when the Censuses were taken in 1851 and 1861, but had left by 1871.

Elizabeth Berisford. She was born in 1831 at Atlow in Derbyshire. When the Census was taken in 1871, and again in 1891, she was recorded as living with her sister Jane Maria Brindley and her husband at 7 Tenant Street in Derby. She was unmarried, and died at Derby in 1891 aged 60 years.

Thomas Berisford. He was baptised at Bradbourne on 28 August 1832.

Edward Berisford. He was baptised at Bradbourne on 14 September 1834.

Jane Maria Berisford. She was born in 1836 at Ballidon, and baptised at Bradbourne on 21 February 1836. She was married to William Henry Brindley on 21 June 1865 by licence at Bradbourne. He was a woollen merchant born in Derby in 1836. He died in Derby in 1896 aged 60 years. In her widowhood she went to live with her retired brother Samuel Berisford at Buxton. She died in Derby in 1924 aged 88 years.

Frederick Berisford. He was baptised at Bradbourne on 28 April 1844.

Their mother Jane Berisford died aged 73 years in 1878 at Macclesfield, the home of her eldest son.
Her husband Samuel Berisford died in 1884 aged 89 years.
