Ann Ellen Phillips 1880-1948

Ann Ellen Phillips 1880-1948 was born on 29 April 1880 at Warslow in Staffordshire, the daughter of Hannah Phillips 1860-1930 of Clough Head in Warslow.

She was married to William Askey on 7 September 1897 at Alstonefield in Staffordshire. He was born in 1874, the son of William Askey 1844-1917 and his wife née Jane Berisford 1841-1919 of Alstonefield.
They had the following children:

William Phillips Askey. He was born in 1898 at Alstonefield. He married Alice Harrison at Alstonefield in 1921, and they had four children. He died at Chapel-en-le Frith in 1958 aged 59 years.

Amy Askey. She was born 26 October 1899 at Alstonefield. She was married to George Edward Johnson in 1923 in Liverpool, and they had two daughters. She died in Liverpool in 1973.

Albert Askey. He was born in 1901 in Ilam parish, Staffordshire. In 1923 he married Elsie Buckley 1901-1981 of Butterton in Staffordshire, and they had three children. He died on 17 December 1958.

Thomas Walter Askey. He was born on 24 July 1902 in Ilam parish. He married Annie Lizzie Adams on 27 December 1927. She was the daughter of Charles Adams 1869-1942 and his wife nee Ellen Bennington Gould 1878-1936. They had two children. He died on 23 September 1979 at Buxton in Derbyshire.

Ellen Askey. She was born at Alstonefield in 1908 and died later in the same year.

Ernest Askey. He was born on 6 April 1910 at Alstonefield. He married Mary Banks in 1934 and they had a son. Ernest Askey died on 5 May 1973 and was buried in Carsington churchyard in Derbyshire.

Annie Askey. She was born on 21 January 1914 at Alstonefield. She was married to Horace Towers of Leicester at Alstonefield church in 1938, and they had two children. She died in November 2001.

Bertha Mary Askey. She was born on 5 June 1915 at Alstonefield, the twin of her sister Florence Alexandra Askey. She was married to James Henry Alcock 1916-1989 at Alstonefield in 1937, and they had a daughter. Bertha Mary Alcock née Askey died in April 2002.

Florence Alexandra Askey. She was born on 6 June 1915 at Alstonefield, the twin of her sister Bertha Mary Askey. She was married to James Wilson Miller in 1936 at Dewsbury in Yorkshire, and they had three chuildren. She died in November 1996.

Martha Askey. She was the twin of her sister Mary Askey, and died in infancy.

Mary Askey. She was the twin of her sister Martha Askey, and died in infancy.

Their mother Ann Ellen Askey née Phillips died in 1948, and was buried in Alstonefield churchyard where there is a gravestone inscribed to her memory and that of her husband William Askey who died on 11 August 1952 at Alstonefield.
