William Jesse Bennington was born on 6 August 1846 at Wendling in Norfolk, and baptised there on 13 August 1848. He was the son of Benjamin Bennington 1817-1886 and his wife nee Susan Doy.
He married Mary Ann Whiskard on 8 October 1973 at Beeston in Yorkshire. She was born in 1846, the daughter of William and Mary Whiskard. She died on 28 July 1921 at Beeston House, Cromwell Road, South Bank in Yorkshire.
They had the following children, all born at South Bank in Yorkshire:
George Bennington 1875. He was a telegraph clerk, and married Edith Mary Bell, born in Sleights, Yorkshire. They had four children: Wlifred Bennington, Cyril Bennington, Alfred George Bennington, and Ronald Bennington.
Ellen Bennington 1876. She was married to Joseph Bullock on 22 May 1899 at South Bank. He was born there in 1876 and was a brickworks manager.
Anna Elizabeth Bennington 1878. She was married on 19 September 1900 to William Roger Laws. He was a gardener, and was born on 11 October 1876 at Beeston-next-Mileham in Norfolk, the son of Mark Laws and his wife nee Anna Wiskar. They emigrated to Canada in 1912 (1). They had three children: Raymond Laws, Agnes Ivy Laws, and Marjory Laws. William Laws died in 1939 at Kelowna, British Columbia in Canada, and his wife died there on 20 August 1954.

Walter Bennington 1882. In 1906 he married Pamela Longstaff at Middlesborough in Yorkshire. He was a purchasing agent and accountant, and died in 1938 at Wellesby Road, Middlesborough. They had ten children: John W. Bennington, Blanche N. Bennington, Marion Priscilla Bennington, Cecil Robert Bennington, Barbara Marion Bennington, Pamela Bennington, Vivienne W. Bennington, Victor Douglas Bennington, Gerald Walter Bennington, and Yvonne Bennington.

Florence Bennington 1886. She married William Price in 1911 at Middlesborough. He was a master baker.
Benjamin Bennington 1888. he was a steel merchant.
