William Bailey was born at Endon in Staffordshire in 1873, the son of James and Hannah Bailey.
His father, born at Norton-in-the-Moors in Staffordshire in 1833, farmed at Dunwood Dales in Longsdon and later at Meghole farm in Heaton, both places being in Staffordshire. He had remarried after the death of his first wife Rachael. His second wife Hannah (maiden surname unknown) was born at Rushton James (now part of Rushton Spencer parish) in Staffordshire in 1852. James Bailey and his family moved from the Endon area in the early 18802 to farm at Upper Hanson (New Hanson Grange), where the four youngest children were born.
William Bailey married Annie Susannah Wood in 1906 in the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel at Alstonefield in Staffordshire.
They lived in Alstonefield, and had the following children:
Annie May Bailey. She was born on 18 April 1907. She was married to her cousin George Gould in 1932. He was born in 1900, the son of Joseph Gould 1874-1941 and his wife Ellen Bailey 1864-1926, the sister of her father. They had a son also named George Gould. She died in July 1986.
Doris Mary Bailey. She was born on 18 June 1911, and died unmarried in October 1988.
Their father William Bailey died on 2 May 1920 aged 47 years.
His widow Annie Susannah Bailey died on 19 November 1965 aged 83 years.
