Samuel Bennington 1870-1905

Millicent and Alice Bennington

Samuel Bennington was born in 1870 at Milldale in Alstonefield parish in Staffordshire, the son of John Murrell Bennington 1828-1901 and his wife nee Hannah Austin, and the twin brother of Daniel Bennington 1870-1941.

He married Millicent Elizabeth Boden in 1896. She was born in 1877 at Wetton in Staffordshire, the daughter of James and Dinah Boden. They lived at first in Church Street in Alstonefield village but moved to Woodseat Lodge, Combridge near Rocester in Staffordshire in about 1902. In 1901 Samuel Bennington was recorded as being a mason's labourer.

Their children were:

Ada Bennington. She was born in 1898 at Alstonefield. She was married to Gilbert Ryder.

Albert Bennington. He was born and baptised in 1900 at Alstonefield.

Annie Bennington. She was born in 1904 at Rocester. She was married to Harry Greatorex.

Hannah Ellen Bennington. She was born in 1906 at Rocester. She was married to Thomas Waring.

On 20 June 1905 Samuel Bennington died aged only 35 and was buried at Rocester on 23 June 1905.

Millicent Bennington remarried in 1911 at Ashbourne Register Office, her second husband being George Harrison born in 1884 in Milldale, Alstonefield.

She died in 1959 aged 82 years.
