John Gould was born in about 1666 at Warslow in Staffordshire.

He married Lydia Meakin 1678-1751 on 18 December 1709 at the parish church of Alstonefield in Staffordshire. They lived in the nearby parish of Sheen in Staffordshire.

They had the following children, all baptised at Sheen:

Thomas Gould. He was born in 1710 and died in 1786.

Mary Gould. She was born in 1711.

Anne Gould. She was born in 1713.

John Gould. He was born in 1717 and died in 1784. He married Parnell Horobin 1725-1782 on 3 December 1743 at Peak Forest chapel in Derbyshire. She was the daughter of William Horobin 1689-1763 and his wife Ellen (maiden surname unknown).

Lydia Gould. She was born in 1719 and died in 1807. She was married to William Prince.

George Gould. He was born in 1721.

Their father John Gould died in 1727 at Warslow and was buried in Sheen.

His Will was made on 14 April 1727. Legacies were bequeathed to his six children, all then under twenty one years of age. His wife Lydia Gould was named as sole executrix. Trustees for the settlements on his children were to be his brother Thomas Gould and brother-in-law James Meakin. Probate was granted on 12 October 1727 at Cheadle in Staffordshire.

An Inventory of his goods had been made on 25 April 1727. John Gould evidently died therefore between the 14th and 25th April 1727.

His widow Lydia Gould née Meakin died in 1751.
