Margaret Lomas was born on 16 November 1777 at Earl Sterndale in Derbyshire, the daughter of Thomas Lomas 1745-1817 and his wife nee Margaret Wheeldon 1751-1783.
She was married there on 6 August 1805 to the Reverend Richard Bentley 1772-1822, the Vicar of Leek in Staffordshire.
They had the following children, all baptised at Leek:
Richard Lomas Bentley. He was born on 26 November 1805, and baptised on 29 June 1810.
Thomas Bentley. He was born on 4 January 1807, and baptised on 29 June 1810.
Robert Bentley 1808. He was born on 21 October 1808, and baptised on 18 October 1814.
Henry Bentley. He was born on 7 May 1810, and baptised on 28 February 1824.
Frances Margaret Bentley. She was born on 21 May 1812, and baptised on 28 February 1824. On 14 February 1832 she was married at Bakewell in Derbyshire to John Lucas, the son of Samuel and Mary Lucas. He was born on 6 February 1806 in Stafford. They had a son John Fossick Lucas 1838-1872, the renowned antiquarian.
Their mother Margaret Bentley nee Lomas died at Buxton in Derbyshire, and was buried on 13 July 1839 at Leek.
Her husband the Reverend Richard Bentley died on 7 October 1822 at Leek.
