Ada Adams was born in 1876 at Ashbourne in Derbyshire, the daughter of Charles Adams 1846-1923 and his wife nee Fanny Walker 1851-1922, and was baptised there on 8 September 1876. In 1891 she was an assistant in a book shop.
In 1900 she was married to Arthur Shepherd 1871-1966 at Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire. He was born in 1871 at Wellingborough in Northamptonshire, the son of Charles and Charlotte Shepherd, and baptised there on 28 July 1872.
They lived at Burton-on-Trent, where he was an elementary school teacher employed by the Borough Council. When the Census was taken in 1901 they were living at 284 Shobnall Street in Burton-on-Trent. With them then was the widowed Charlotte Shepherd (born in Derby in 1846), mother of Arthur Shepherd. They were at the same address in 1911.
They had the following children:
Beatrice Charlotte Shepherd. She was born at Burton-on-Trent in 1901. She was married to her second cousin Reginald Adams 1898-1974, the son of James Edwin Adams 1873-1937 and his wife nee Maud Howell. They had three sons.
Frances Annie Shepherd. She was born at Burton-on-Trent on 25 December 1905. She was married to John R Waller in 1933 at Burton-on-Trent. She died in 1998 in Warwickshire aged 92 years.

Her husband died at Watford in Hertfordshire in 1966 aged 96 years.
