Thomas Bennington was born on 3 December 1799 at Sporle in Norfolk, the son of Thomas Bennington born 1767 and his wife nee Phoebe Bowman.

He married Mary [[maiden surname unknown] in 1824. She was born in 1807 at Litcham, Norfolk.

Their children (all born at Sporle) were:

Charlotte Bennington. She was born in 1831.

Lydia Bennington. She was born in 1831. She married John Bell, a sawyer, born in 1834 at Necton in Norfolk. They had five children, all born in Necton: William Bell (born in 1858), Emma Bell (born in 1860), Walter Bell (born in 1862), Barnabas Bell (born in 1864) and Martha Bell (born in 1865)

Noah Bennington. He was born in 1839. He married first Rebecca [[maiden surname unknown] born in 1849 at Middlesborogh in Yorkshire; and secondly at Sporle in 1860 Mary Ann [[maiden surname also unknown] born in Sporle. He became a foundry worker at Middlesborough. By his second wife he had two daughters, Phoebe Bennington (born in 1861 at Sporle) and Adelaide Bennington born in 1864 at Middlesborough.

Phoebe Bennington. She was born in 1842.

Ruth Bennington. She was born in 1844.

Jeremiah Bennington. He was born in 1847. He became a worker in an ironworks. In 1870 he married Mary A. [[maiden surname unknown] born in 1847 at Great Yarmouth in Norfolk. They had two sons, Thomas W. Bennington (born in 1871 at Middlesborough) and Henry James Bennington (born in 1873 at North Ormesby in Yorkshire).

Emily Bennington. She was born in 1852.

John Bennington. He was born in 1854. By 1901 he had become a worker in a blast furnace in Middlesborough. He married Sarah Ann [[maiden surname unknown] born in 1854 at Pontefract in Yorkshire. They had two children, Emily E. Bennington (born in 1877 at North Ormesby) and John Bennington (born in 1884 at Middlesborough).
