Samuel Mellor 1791-1862

Samuel Mellor was born in 1791 at Longnor in Staffordshire, the son of Thomas Mellor and his wife née Elizabeth Parker.

On 13 July 1828 he married Mary Wood 1800-1864 at Alstonefield in Staffordshire, the daughter of Thomas Wood 1775-1819 and his wife nee Ann Edge 1783-1821.

When the Census was taken in 1841 they were living at Windy Harbour Gate, Heathy Lee in Alstonefield parish. Later they moved to Back Street in Longnor.

They had the following children:

Richard Mellor. He was born in 1830, and married Ann Edge 1842-1921. He died on 30 June 1894.

Moses Mellor. He was born in 1833.

Sarah Ann Mellor. She was born in 1833 and died in 1912.

Thomas Mellor. He was born in 1839, and married Jane Ann Goodwin 1845-1911 of Sheen in Staffordshire. He died on 23 February 1919.

Matthew Mellor. He was born in 1841. In 1873 he married Elizabeth Austin 1855-1920, the daughter of Hannah Austin 1832-1899.

Their mother Mary Mellor née Wood died in 1864 at Longnor.

Their father Samuel Mellor died in 1862.

His widow Mary Mellor nee Wood died in 1864.
