Samuel Austin 1806-1858

Samuel Austin was born in 1806 in Alstonefield, Staffordshire. He was the son of Daniel Austin 1781-1857 and his wife nee Hannah Edensor 1776-1888.

He is thought to have been the father of Hannah Austin 1832-1899. Her mother is unknown.

On 14 September 1840 he married Hannah Austin 1821-1886 at Ashbourne in Derbyshire. She was baptised on 14 January 1821 at Hartington in Derbyshire, the daughter of George Austin 1789-1853 of Biggin near Hartington and his wife nee Ann Higton 1794-1873. George Austin was the son of Hannah Austin 1755-1838 of Brassington in Derbyshire.

Samuel and Hannah Austin lived in Alstonefield parish (presumably in Milldale) and later in Alsop-en-le-Dale.

They had the following children:

Samuel Austin. He was born at Heathcote near Hartington, and baptised on 14 October 1840 at Hartington. In 1861 he was working as a carter for farmer Matthew Lowndes at Bank Top, Fenny Bentley in Derbyshire. On 2 February 1863 he married Elizabeth Wright Heath 1838-1912 at Fenny Bentley. They lived at Kirkdale in Liverpool, and had two sons and four daughters born there. By 1911 he was living at Walton-on-the Hill (now called Walton, and probably actually Kirkdale) in Liverpool. He died in 1925 in the West Derby district of Liverpool. His wife had predeceased him there in 1912.

Daniel Austin. He was born in 1844 at Alstonefield.

Maria Austin. She was born in 1846 at Alstonefield).

Mary Ann Austin. She was born in 1849 in Alsop-en-le-Dale.

George Austin. He was born in 1850 in Alsop-en-le-Dale.

James Austin. He was born in 1853 and died in 1922.

Thomas Austin. He was born in 1855 and died in 1878.

Margaret Austin. She was born in 1857.

Their father Samuel Austin died on 13 April 1858 at Ashbourne in Derbyshire.
