Robert Murrell was born in 1828 at Hingham in Norfolk, the son of John Bennington and Martha Murrell. His parents had not then married.
He was baptised at Hingham on 16 May 1818 together with his sister Henrietta Murrell. Their baptism at Hingham was recorded in the Wendling parish register.
In 1841 aged 25 he was working as a man servant at Sea Mere Farm in Hingham, Norfolk. By 1861 he was an agricultural labourer at Sea Mere farm, married to Sarah Cooper, born in 1826 at Hingham. They had a family of three children, and also living with them was his widowed father-in-law Thomas Cooper, a blind pauper aged 89 years and born in 1772 in Hingham.
By Sarah Cooper Robert Murrell had the following children, all born at Hingham:
Hannah Murrell. She was born in 1856.
William Murrell. He was born in 1858.
George Murrell. He was born in 1860.
His wife died before 1871.
When the Census was taken in that year Robert Murrell was still at Sea Mere in Hingham, with his second wife nee Mary Ann Barnes, whom he had married in 1864. He was then recorded as suffering from "nervous debility".
Rober Murrell died in 1875 aged 60 years.
