Ralph Wooddisse 1874-1944

Ralph Wooddisse was born in 1874 at Bradbourne in Derbyshire, the son of Ralph Wooddisse 1841-1925 and his wife née Lydia Buxton 1847-1912, and was baptised there on 10 January 1875.

On 10 April 1901 he married Eleanor Hawksworth at Sutton-on-the-Hill in Derbyshire. She was born in 1879 at Longford in Derbyshire, the daughter of John Henry Hawksworth 1848-1880 and his wife nee Elizabeth Ann Eley 1848-1924.

When the Census was taken in 1911 they were living at Oak Tree Cottage, Cropper in Etwall. Ralph Wooddise was employed on the family farm.

They had the following children:

Ralph Wooddisse. He was born in 1902 at Markeaton in Derbyshire, and baptised at Sutton-on-the-Hill in 1902.

John Hawksworth Wooddisse. He was born in 1903 at Markeaton. He married Amy Estella Robinson in 1936, the daughter of Alfred John Robinson.

Eleanor Wooddisse. She was born in 1904 and baptised in that year at Kedleston in Derbyshire. She died in 1908 aged four years.

Elizabeth Elliott Wooddisse. She was born in 1906 and baptised in that year at Sutton-on-the-Hill. She was married to Arthur Gregson in 1928 at Sutton-on-the-Hill.

Edward Wooddisse. He was born in 1910 at Cropper in Etwall.

Their father Ralph Wooddisse died in 1944 at Brailsford in Derbyshire aged 70 years.

His widow Eleanor Wooddisse née Hawksworth died on 20 November 1964 in Derby.
