Margaret Landell Sharpe was born in 1830 and baptised at Doncaster on 18 February 1830. She was the daughter of the Reverend John Sharpe the Vicar of St George's church in Doncaster and his wife nee Sarah Falconer.
She was a sister of Captain John Edward Sharpe 1824-1857, whose daughter married Thomas Gould, a Sheffield solicitor.
In 1854 Margaret Landell Sharpe was married to Frederick Pennington 1819-1914 the merchant and politician, became deeply involved in the women's movement and a campaigns for emancipation and suffrage (1).
