John Fearn 1828-1889

John Fearn was born 1828 at Kniveton in Derbyshire, the son of John Fearn and his wife Sarah (maiden surname unknown). He was baptised at Kniveton on 1 March 1828.

He married Mary Corden in 1854 at Macclesfield in Cheshire. She was born in 1830 at Somercotes, near Alfreton in Derbyshire, daughter of James Corden, a tailor, and his wife Elizabeth (maiden surname unknown). She was baptised at Alfreton on 16 January 1831. In 1851 she had been working as a house servant in the household of John and Sarah Clews who farmed at Broad Close, Tissington in Derbyshire.

The Pigeon Box, Kniveton

They lived at a cottage called The Pigeon Box in Kniveton in Derbyshire (now demolished).

They had the following children, all born in Kniveton:

Annie Elizabeth Fearn. She was born in 1860, and was married to William Page at Kniveton church on 9 July 1888.

Sarah Fearn. She was born in 1863.

Mary Ellen Fearn. She was born in 1865, and was married to Arthur Smith at Kniveton church on 2 November 1891.

Elizabeth Hannah Fearn. She was born in 1868, and was married to John Thomas Smith at Kniveton church on 26 January 1898.

George R. Fearn. He was born in 1870.

Edward Corden Fearn 1873-1910. He married Sarah Richardson in 1895 at Stowe-by-Chartley near Stafford in Staffordshire.

Ada Fearn. She was born in 1876.

John Fearn died in 1889 and was buried in Kniveton churchyard on 29 March 1889 aged 61 years.
His wife Mary Fearn died in 1905 aged 74 years.
