James Bennington was born on 8 September 1798 at Gressenhall in Norfolk, and baptised on 16 September 1798. He was the son of John Bennington and his wife nee Elizabeth Sparrow.
He married Elizabeth Hale on 8 October 1820 at Gressenhall. She was born in 1800 and died at Wiggenhall St. Mary in Norfolk. She died in 1847 and was buried 0n 7 February 1847 at Wiggenhall St. Mary.
Their children (all born, and where mentioned baptised, in Gressenhall) were:
James Bennington. He was born in 1823, and baptised on 29 December 1823.
Elizabeth Bennington. She was born in 1827, and baptised on 13 June 1827. She was married to James Mouser on 6 November 1846.
William Bennington. He was born in 1829, and baptised on 26 October 1829. He died in an accident in 1840, having been suffocated under a pile of turnips. He was buried at Gressenhall on 20 January 1840.
George Bennington. He was born in 1831, and baptised on 14 November 1831.
Anna Bennington. She was born in 1835, and baptised on 15 June 1835.
Hannah Bennington. She was born in 1837, and baptised on 26 March 1837 at Saddle Bow, near Wiggenhall St. Germans in Norfolk.
Susan Bennington. She was born in 1839, and baptised on 22 September 1839.
Benjamin Bennington. He was born in 1841.

James Bennington married Mary Cozens in 1850 at King's Lynn. She was born in 1819 in Setchey, King's Lynn in Norfolk. In 1851 they were living at West Lynn St Peter in Norfolk.
James Bennington died in 1865 at Wiggenhall St. Mary, and was buried there on 26 July 1865.
