Mary Berisford 1735-1810

Mary Berisford was born in 1735 at Tissington in Derbyshire, the daughter of Francis Berisford 1706-1784 and his wife née Elizabeth Goodwin 1708-1784. The surname is also spelt Beresford.

On 6 December 1760 she was married to Anthony Bagshaw at Ashbourne in Derbyshire. He was baptised on 1 August 1736, and buried on 6 July 1812.

They had the following children:

Ellen Bagshaw. She was born in 1761. She was married to Francis Roe 1754-1818 of Parwich in Derbyshire, and died in 1823.

Anne Bagshaw. She was born in 1765, and was unmarried. She died on 2 August 1835 aged 70 years, and was buried at Alsop-en-le-dale where there is a gravestone inscribed to her memory.

Mary Bagshaw. She was born at Newton Grange in Derbyshire in 1768. On 5 June 1798 she was married to William Fletcher 1755-1839, and died in 1857.

Francis Bagshaw. He was born in 1771 and died on 26 April 1840. He was buried at Alsop-en-le-dale where there is a gravestone inscribed to his memory.

Anthony Bagshaw. He was born in 1774 and died at Newton Grange on 15 January 1848 of influenza aged 74 years (1). He was buried at Alsop-en-le-dale where there is a gravestone inscribed to his memory. The livestock of the farm at Newton Grange was advertised for sale following his death (2).

Their mother Mary Bagshaw née Berisford died in 1810, and was buried at Alsop-en-le-dale where there is a gravestone inscribed to her memory.
