Milldale village
Martha Hambleton was born in 1846 at Milldale in Alstonefield parish in Staffordshire, the daughter of Samuel Hambleton and his wife nee Rachel Beresford.
When the 1861 Census was taken she was employed as a servant maid aged sixteen for Mary Buxton, a widow who was farming 258 acres at Alsop-en-le-Dale in Derbyshire.
By 1871 she was working as a servant for Ralph Beardmore at Stanshope in Alstonefield parish.
In 1875 she was married to William Harrison, and they had the following children, all born in Milldale:
Thomas Hambleton. He was born in 1868.
Hannah Hambleton. She was born in 1871.
Mary Hambleton. She was born in 1877.
Their mother Martha Hambleton died in 1910 aged 63 years.
Her husband had predeceased her in 1891 aged 56 years.
