John Phillips 1722-1775

John Phillips was born in 1722, the son of William Phillips 1695-1758 of Butterton in Staffordshire and his wife née Martha Handman 1700-1755.

He married Martha Newton on 26 April 1740 at Hartington parish church in Derbyshire.

They had the following children, all born in Alstonefield parish:

Ralph Phillips. He was born in 1741.

Josiah Phillips. He was born in 1743.

Hannah Phillips. She was born in 1750 and died in the same year.

Sampson Phillips. He was born in 1752. He married Ann (born in about 1755, maiden surname unknown) and they had four children: Sampson Phillips (born in 1778), Elizabeth Phillips (born in 1779), Sarah Phillips (born in 1781) and Mary Phillips (born in 1784).

Sarah Phillips. She was born in 1755.

Their father John Phillips died in 1775.
