lHarriet Hambleton was born in 1833 at Milldale in Alstonefield parish in Staffordshire, the daughter of William Hambleton 1800-1865. The name of her mother is unknown.
In 1852 she was married to Thomas Wagstaff at Alsop-en-le-Dale church in Derbyshire. He was born in 1830 at Biggin in Hartington parish in Derbyshire. They lived in Alsop-en-le-Dale, and had the following children, all born there:
Thomas Wagstaff. He was born in 1851.
James Wagstaff. He was born in 1855. In 1878 he married Charlotte Bowler Botham at Fenny Bentley near Ashbourne in Derbyshire, where they lived and raised a large family. He died at Brassington in Derbyshire in 1931.
George Wagstaff. He was born in 1857.
Mary Wagstaff. She was born in 1861.
William Wagstaff. He was born in 1863. In 1881 he was employed as an indoor farm hand aged eighteen on the farm of Charles Waterfall at The Ashes in Fenny Bentley.
Hannah Wagstaff. She was born in 1865.
Harriet Wagstaff. She was born in 1869.
Their father Thomas Wagstaff died on 3 October 1874 aged only 44 years. He was buried at Alsop-en-le-Dale, where there is a gravestone inscribed to his memory.
The date of the death of his widow is unknown. Presumably she remarried.
