Ann Bagshaw Gould was born at High Needham near Earl Sterndale in Derbyshire in 1813, the daughter of William Gould 1822-1859 of Crowdecote in Derbyshire and his wife nee Rachel Bagshaw 1813-1885.

She was married to Henry White on 7 February 1870 at Earl Sterndale. He was born in Brushfield near Taddington in Derbyshire in 1836.

By 1871 he was farming 131 acres at Brushfield, and by 1881 farming 130 acres employing one boy.

They had the following children:

William Henry White. He was born in 1870. On 27 January 1909 he died aged only 38 years, and was buried at Taddington (1).

Rachel Ann White. She was born in 1873. On 7 February 1889 she died aged only 16 years, and was buried at Taddington.

Sarah Elizabeth White. She was born in 1875. On 25 July 1911 she died aged 36 years, and was buried at Taddington (2).

George Robert White. He was born in 1878. In 1903 he married Sarah Ann Mellor at Bakewell in Derbyshire. She was born at Stony Middleton in Derbyshire in 1881. They farmed at Brushfield, employing one farm servant in 1911. They had three children, all living in 1911. George Robert White died on 11 October 1936 at Chapel-en-le-Frith in Derbyshire aged 58 years (3). He was then living at Beech House, Marsh Lane in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

Richard Edwin White. He was born in 1880. He died at Croft Side in Taddington on 18 August 1953 (4).

Their mother Ann Bagshaw White died on 13 July 1881 aged only 36 years. She was buried at Taddington, where there is a memorial inscription to her memory and to those of her husband, son William and daughters Rachel and Sarah Elizabeth who are also buried there in the family grave

Her husband Henry White died on 11 July 1882 aged 47 years and was buried at Taddington (5).

When the Census was taken in 1901 their children William Henry White, Sarah Elizabeth White, George Robert White and Richard Edwin White were farming jointly at Brushfield.

However by 1911 William had died, and George and Richard were farming separately at Brushfield, George being then married and Richard still unmarried but with his sister Sarah as housekeeper.

(4) His Will was proved at London on 10 October 1953. His personal estate was £6,668 8s 7d, and the executors were Jane White, widow, and Fred White, farmer: England and Wales National Probate Calendar 1858-1966 (1953) page 369.
(5) His Will was proved at Derby on 21 August 1882. His personal estate was £291 18s 6d, and the executors were John Heathcote of Taddington and William Bloore of Brushfield, farmers: England and Wales National Probate Calendar 1858-1966 (1882) page 247. John Heathcote was probably his brother-in-law.
