William Gould was born in 1786 and died in 1839.
With his father Joseph Gould 1754-1821, brothers Joseph Gould 1784-1833 and Richard Gould 1794-1865, and two uncles William Gould was by 1813 a partner in the family business in Manchester called Nathaniel Joseph and George Gould & Co. In that year, for some unknown reason, it proved necessary to issue formal notice that their Counting House Clerk was no longer employed by the business:
The partnership lasted until 31 October 1817, when the three older Gould brothers left the business, but William Gould and brothers Joseph and Richard continued trading.
William Gould died on 6 September 1839 at the Rutland Arms, Bakewell in Derbyshire where he was then a resident (1). He was buried at Bakewell on 11 September 1839.
He had made his Will on 23 September 1837, and it was proved in London on 24 February 1840.
