William Bradley Waterhouse was born in Oldham in Lancashire in 1808, and baptised on 14 February 1808 at St Mary's church in Oldham. His father's name is unknown, but his mother Elizabeth may have been surnamed Bradley.

In 1830 he was recorded as being a cotton spinner (1) and as a book keeper in 1839 (2). In the latter year he was living in Mottram-in-Longdendale in Cheshire (3).

He married Mary Fletcher on 1 June 1836 at Mottram-in-Longdendale. She was born in 1810 in Manchester.

They had the following children:

Mary Elizabeth Waterhouse. She was born on 8 June 1837 at Mottram-in-Longdendale, and baptised there on 15 August 1837. She was married in 1860 to Ralph Beardmore 1833-1910, and died in 1915.

Harriot Waterhouse. She was baptised on 26 June 1839 at Mottram-in-Longdendale. She died aged only nine months in January 1840, and was buried at Mottram-in-Longdendale.

In 1851 William and Mary Waterhouse were living at Harry Field House in Mottram-in-Longdendale. By 1871 he was retired and living at Old Hall Lane, Hollingworth in Lancashire (4).

Mary Waterhouse died in 1878 aged 68 years, and was buried at Mottram-in-Longdendale on 24 January 1878.

In the 1881 Census Return William Bradley Waterhouse was recorded as being a widower, a retired cashier and living at Sun Dial Cottage in Hollingworth. With him then was his grandson Ralph Beardmore, the son of his daughter Mary Elizabeth Beardmore and her husband Ralph Beardmore 1833-1910 of Stanshope Hall, near Alstonefield in Staffordshire.

William Bradley Waterhouse died in 1882 74 years, and was buried at Mottram-in-Longdendale on 15 December 1882.
