Will of William Gillum died 1769

In the Name of God Amen

I William Gillum of the East India House in the City of London Gentleman being weak in body but of sound and disposing Mind Memory and understanding do make my last Will and Testament in the manner following first and Principally I Commit my Soul into the hands of almighty God my Maker and my Body to the Earth to be interred in a Private and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named I give and bequeath to my three sons William Thomas and Raphael Gillum the Sum of one hundred Pounds each to be paid to and vested in them respectively on their attaining their several ages of twenty one years but the Interest to be made thereof in the mean time is to be paid to their Mother towards their respective maintenance and in Case
any or either of them shall die before he or they shall attain that age the Survivor or Survivors of him or them so dying shall go and belong to the survivors or survivor of them unless he or they so dying shall have any lawful Issue in which Case it is my Will that the Legacy or Legacies of him her or their body so dying before that age and having Issue as aforesaid Shall go to his and their Child and if all my said three sons should happen to die before they attain the age of twenty one years without leaving such Issue then all the said three Legacies shall fall into the Residue of my Estate for the benefit of my dear Wife Mary Gillum I give and bequeath to my Friend Thomas Atkinson of Coleman Street London Merchant and Richard Holt of the East India House aforesaid Gentleman and to the survivor of them and the Executors or Administrators of such survivor the Sum of four hundred Pounds upon Trust to place out the same in Government or good Real Security at Interest and to pay the Interest and Dividends thereof to my said dear Wife for life and after her death to pay Transfer or assign the said four Hundred Pounds or the Securities in which the same shall be then invested (which part thereof as shall not have been laid out in the Purchase of an annuity as hereinafter mentioned) to my said three sons William Thomas and Raphael Gillum and their respective Executors or Administrators share and share alike Provided nevertheless that it shall and may be lawful to and for my said Trustees or the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor if they or the survivor of them shall think proper and not otherwise with the consent and approbation of my said dear Wife to lay out the whole or any part of the said Sum of four hundred Pounds in an Annuity for the life and benefit of my said dear Wife I give to my Father John Gillum my Mother Elizabeth Gillum and my Brother John Gillum five Guineas each for a Ring All the Rest and Residue of my Estate whatsoever after payment of my just Debts and Funeral Expences and the charges of this my Will I give and bequeath to my said dear Wife and I constitute and appoint my said dear Wife Mary Gillum and the said Thomas Atkinson and Richard Holt Executrix and Executors of this my last Will and Testament
In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Nineteenth day of October in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Sixty Nine

This Will was proved at London on the third day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Sixty Nine before the Worshipful Francis Simpson Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful George Levy Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oaths of Mary Gillum Widow the Relict of the deceased Thomas Atkinson and Richard Holt the Executors named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased having been first sworn duly to administer.
