His life and books
When Raphael Gillum drew up his will in 1853 Thomas Flight was an old man of 93, with his famous years long behind him.
His London warehouse, which he leased from Raphael Gillum, was full of china and porcelain. He had been the London agent of the Worcester porcelain firm, which he had bought outright in 1783 for his sons Joseph and John Flight. In their time they produced some of the finest English porcelain ever made.
In 1788 the Worcester factory was visited by King George III - hence Royal Worcester Porcelain, still in production today.
