Sarah Louisa Horobin was born on 3 February 1877 at Longnor in Staffordshire, the daughter of Thomas Horobin 1855-1924 and his wife née Elizabeth Bradbury 1858-1920. She was baptised at Chelmorton on 23 December 1855.
On 1 July 1897 she was married to Matthew William Dicken at Alstonefield in Staffordshire. He was born in 1858 at Flagg in Derbyshire, the son of George and Ellen Dicken, and was baptised on 8 May 1858 at Chelmorton in Derbyshire. He had been previously married and had two sons both at Buxton in Derbyshire, Ernest William Dicken (born in 1891) and George Dicken (born in 1895). His first wife née Ellen Elizabeth (maiden surname unknown) had died in 1896 aged only 34 years.
When the Census was taken in 1901 Matthew William Dicken and his second wife Sarah Louisa Dicken née Horobin were living at 17 London Road in Buxton. He was then a self-employed milk dealer. By 1911 they were living at Flagg Moor and he was a farmer.
They had the following children, both at Buxton:
Dorothy Dicken. She was born in 1899. She was married to William H Mycock in 1929, and died in 1982 aged 84 years.
Mark Anthony Dicken. He was born on 19 March 1900. He married May Melland in 1936, and died in 1972 aged 72 years.
Their mother Sarah Louisa Dicken née Horobin died in 1979 aged 102 years.
Her husband Matthew William Dicken had died in 1935 aged 77 years.
