Mootlow Farm

Ruth Naomi Redfern was born in 1864 at Mootlow in Newton Grange parish near Alsop-en-le-Dale in Derbyshire, the daughter of Joseph Redfern and his second wife nee Hannah Austin 1838-1899. She was baptised on 28 August 1864 at Alsop-en-le-Dale church.

She was married to William Henry Walwyn in 1887. He was born in 1863 at Bradnop in Staffordshire. They lived at Broad Close Farm in Newton Grange parish in Derbyshire.

They had the following children:

Alice Walwyn. She was born in 1888 at Roston in Derbyshire. In 1909 she was married to Arthur Adams at Beulah church in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. He was a dairy farmer born in 1886 at Tissington in Derbyshire, and they lived there. She died in 1955 at Derby aged 68 years.

Frank Walwyn. He was born on 19 April 1893 at Broad Close Farm, and baptised at Hartington in Derbyshire. He married Lottie Ronson in 1922 at Ashbourne parish church, and died in 1970 at Holywell in Flintshire, Wales.

Annie Walwyn. She was born in 1897 at Broad Close Farm, and baptised at Brassington in Derbyshire. In 1923 she was married to Hector William Smith at Beulah church in Ashbourne. She died in 1966 aged 69 years.

Working at Broad Close Farm in 1911 was the cousin of Ruth Naomi Walwyn nee Redfern, namely Sarah Hannah Austin 1885-1950 the daughter of her maternal uncle James Austin.

Ruth Naomi Walwyn died in 1946 at Derby aged 81 years.

Her husband William Henry Walwyn had predeceased her in 1932 aged 69 years.
