Mary Goodwin was born in 1754 at Tissington in Derbyshire, the daughter of Edmund Buxton Goodwin 1720-1777 and his wife nee Mary Johnson 1727-1798. She was baptised on 30 May 1754 at Tissington.

On 16 November 1779 she was married at Tissington to Richard Gould 1741-1820, son of Richard Gould 1711-1762 of Pilsbury Grange and his wife nee Elizabeth Gilbert.

They had the following children:

Richard Gould 1780-1843. He was baptised at Hartington in Derbyshire on 10 December 1780. He married Alice Horobin 1796-1887. They lived at Biggin Hall, which he inherited in 1842. He died on 12 April 1843 aged 52 years, and was buried at Hartington. Alice Gould died on 6 May 1897 aged 91 and was buried at Hartington.

Edmund Gould 1782-1833. He was baptised at Hartington on 18 April 1782. He married Margaret Peake of Stafford on 27 October 1814. They lived at Pilsbury Grange. He died on 27 December 1833 aged 51 years, and was buried at Hartington. His wife died on 8 November 1844, and was also buried at Hartington.

Thomasin Goodwin Gould 1787-1853. She was born on 11 December 1787. On 10 June 1812 she was married at Hartington church to Thomas Greensmith 1785-1876. She died on 8 July 1853 and was buried at Thorpe in Derbyshire.

John Gould 1784-1814. He was baptised at Hartington on 19 December 1784. He died in France on 8 April 1814 at the Siege of Toulouse.

William Gould 1793-1794. He was baptised at Hartington on 10 November 1793. He died on 27 February 1794 aged only thirteen weeks, and was buried at Hartington.

Their mother Mary Gould died on 24 October 1815 aged 61 years, and was buried on 31 October 1815 at Hartington.
Her husband Richard Gould died in 1820 aged 79 years, and was buried on 11 April 1820 at Hartington.
