George Millward married Elizabeth Palfreyman in 1867 at Bonsall church near Matlock in Derbyshire. They had the follwoing children, all born at Alstonefield:
Esther Millward. She was born in 1869, and was married to Frank Austin at Earl Sterndale church in 1902.
Lydia Millward. She was born in 1871.
George Millward. He was born in 1873.
John Millward. He was born in 1876.
The family were living at Dunge Bottom Farm in Alstonefield parish when the Census was taken in 1871
Their mother Elizabeth Millward died in 1876 aged only 38 years. The family left Dunge Bottom Farm and moved to a house in Alstonefield village, where George Millward was farming sixteen acres when the 1881 Census was taken (1).
He married Harriet Finney at Ashbourne Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in 1889. She was a widow with three young children (2).
George Millward died in 1895 aged 52 years.
