Will of Mary Gould 1827-1897

This is the last Will of me Mary Gould of 19 London Road Newark on Trent in the county of Nottingham widow First I give and bequeath the following legacies namely to my dear brother William Wright of Bradbourne in the county of Derby Farmer the sum of one hundred pounds and to my late servant Hannah Holmes the sum of twenty pounds and I give devise and bequeath all my real estate and all the rest of my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever except only such real estate as may be vested in me as trustee or mortgage but including both real and personal estate over which I may have any power of appointment or disposition by will unto and to the use of my dear son Nathaniel Gould his heirs executors administrators and assigns accordingly to the nature or tenure of such estate and I nominate and appoint the said Nathaniel Gould and William Wright to be Executors of this my will and I give and devise unto the said Nathaniel Gould and William Wright all such real estate as may be vested in me as trustee or mortgage to hold the same upon the several trusts and subject to the several equities of and effecting the same but so that any beneficial interest arising therefrom shall be considered as part of my personal estate and lastly revoking all other wills by me at anytime heretofore made I declare this only to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have to the foot or end hereof set and subscribed my name this twenty ninth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty one Mary Gould

This is a Codicil to the above written will of me Mary Gould now residing in Friar Gate in the borough of Derby Whereas by my will I have bequeathed to my late servant Hannah Holmes the sum of twenty pounds now I hereby revoke such bequest and I give and bequeath to the above named Nathaniel Gould and William Wright the Executors and Trustees of my said will the sun of five hundred pounds in trust for and to be paid to my Granddaughter Doris Isabella Gould if and when she shall attain the age of twenty one year or marry under that age for her own absolute use and benefit and I hereby declare that until the said Doris Isabella Gould shall attain the age of twenty one years or marry (whichever event shall first happen) my said trustees shall invest the said sum of five hundred pounds in any of the stocks funds or securities authorised by law for trust funds with power to apply the whole or any part of the income thence arising from towards the maintenance education or otherwise for the benefit of the said Doris Isabella Gould and with liberty if they shall think fit to pay the same to her guardian or guardians for the purposes aforesaid without being liable to see to the application thereof and I direct that my said trustees shall accumulate the residue (if any) of such income by investing the same and the resulting income thereof to the intent that such accumulation shall be added to the said sum of five hundred pounds and follow the destination thereof and in all other respects I hereby ratify and confirm my said will In witness whereof I have to the foot or end hereof set and subscribed my hand this eleventh day of December one thousand eight hundred and ninety six Mary Gould

On the 2nd day of March 1897 Probate of this will with one codicil was granted at Derby to Nathaniel Gould and William Wright the executors.
