His life and books
Rebecca Salt was the daughter of Mr Salt of Ashbourne.
She was the second wife of Richard Gould 1742-1809 of Brownhill in Warslow. After his death in 1809, she married James Ashton of Winster, Derbyshire. He succeeded to the tenancy of Brownhill from the Harpur-Crewe Esate, but gave it up and in 1824 it was converted into Warslow Hall, the summer residence of the Harpur Crewe family. She had no children.
She died in 1811, and was buried at Alstonefield on 7 October 1811.
