John Ramsker was a Sheffield cutler. He minted the first Sheffield trade tokens in 1655.
His sister Ellen Ramsker was the first wife of Thomas Hollis 1602-1664 of Rotherham in Yorkshire. They were the parents of Thomas Hollis 1634-1718 who founded the first hospital in Sheffield, and whose descendants were great benefactors of hospitals in Sheffield and London, and of Harvard University.
By his second wife Mary (maiden surname unknown) Thomas Hollis 1602-1664 was the father of Mary Hollis the wife of William Gould who first came to Pilsbury Grange and died in 1725.
His nephew Thomas Hollis 1634-1718 was apprenticed to John Ramsker, who sent him to manage his shop in the Minories in London.
