Eunice Ann Phillips was born in 1862 at Warslow in Staffordshire, the daughter of William Phillips 1815-1873 and his wife née Hannah Phillips 1823-1888 of Clough Head in Warslow. She was baptised at Warslow on 16 November 1862.

When the 1881 Census was taken she was working as a maid in the household of John Benson a wine merchant of 1 London Road in Leek in Staffordshire, where her sister Hannah Phillips 1860-1930 was employed the cook.

In 1882 she was married in Leek to William Gaunt 1857-1919 born in Burslem, Staffordshire. He was the son of William Gaunt 1828-1898 and his wife nee Ann Mayer 1835-1918. They had the following children:

Ann Gaunt. She was born in 1882 at Leek.

William Gaunt. He was born in 1885 at Leek. When the Census was taken in 1901 he was employed as a firework maker.

Emily Gaunt. She was born in 1888 at Leek. In 1911 she was working as a cutter in a shirt warehouse.

Thomas Arthur Gaunt. He was born in 1891 at Leek. In 1911 he was employed as a railway clerk.

Eunice Ann Gaunt. She was born in 1893 at Leek.

Ralph Gaunt. He was born in 1896 at Leek. In 1911 he was working as an assistant in a chemist's shop.

Harold Gaunt. He was born in 1902 in Manchester.

They also had another child who had died by 1911.

In 1891 the family were living at 40 Compton Street in Leek, and William Gaunt was employed as the caretaker of All Saints' church.

When the 1901 Census was taken however William Gaunt had become a railway carter, and the family were living at 57 Forbes Street, Gorton in Manchester. By 1911 they had moved to live at 238 Hyde Road, West Gorton.

Eunice Ann Gaunt nee Phillips died in Manchester in 1940 aged 77 years. Her husband William Gaunt had died in 1919.
