Edmund Gould was born in 1835 at Crowdecote in Derbyshire, the son of Richard Gould 1780-1843 and his wife Alice.
His parents farmed at Crowdecote in Derbyshire, but in 1842 the family moved to Biggin Hall near Hartington in Derbyshire when his father inherited the property from Margaret Goodwin, the last of the resident Goodwin family.
In the following year his father died. During her long widowhood his mother continued farming at Biggin Hall with her three bachelor sons John Gould, Richard Gould and Edmund Gould. The farm grew in size from 65 acres in 1851 to 84 acres ten years later and to 250 acres by 1881. After her death in 1887 her unmarried sons continued farming at Biggin Hall until the death of the last of them, Richard Gould, in 1915.
However on 16 February 1898 Edmund Gould married Marian Sellors at Bakewell in Derbyshire. She was born in 1853 at Bakewell, the daughter of George and Maria Sellors. Her father was a slater when the Census was taken in 1891.
They were living at Corn Mill Yard, Buxton Road in Bakewell when the Census was taken in 1891 and 1901.
Edmund Gould died at Bakewell on 24 June 1909 aged 74 years.
Probate of his Will was granted on 25 September 1909 (1).
His widow Marian Gould née Sellors died at Bakewell on 18 April 1914.
Administration of her estate was granted on 23 May 1914 (2).
